Join Creating Print Activites "from scratch" with BM Studio on September 25 6:00 ET and learn basic print editing skills in Boardmaker Studio. This session will begin with creating a New Project, new page and different types of buttons. It will then cover using the spray tool, the text tool, the Properties Panel, the Symbols Panel, and the Symbol Library. It will conclude with the creation of different language and communication activities through using a combination of the skills and features covered. Tips, tutorials, and ASHA CEU credit will be available. Come join us!

This is an intermediate level class. Prior knowledge of Basic Boardmaker Studio Templates and Gadgets skills is recommended. Enid Hurtado received a BA in Liberal Studies and teaching credential in Special Education: Moderate to Severe from San Diego State University. She served as a Special Educator in CA and CO with children of varying disabilities, Pre-12. During that time, she also served as an Inclusion Facilitator, Coordinator of Autism Services, and a behavior specialist in an Early Intervention Program. She currently is a Senior Boardmaker Implementation Training Specialist with DynaVox Mayer-Johnson.

This session demonstrates how professionals can use Literacy Lab to identify needs and provide intervention support for beginning readers. This session provides a basic introductory overview of Literacy Lab by identifying clinical tools and methods within the software that target reciprocal spoken and written language growth. The session will demonstrate how the Literacy Lab software will provide support for learning and understanding text structures and linguistic cohesion. Additionally, the session will review tools within the software for implementing a curriculum-relevant individualized plan for beginning readers

Before joining Dynavox Mayer Johnson in 2011, she practiced as a Speech Language Pathologist in Huntington Public Schools in Huntington, New York.

In addition to serving as a special educator, she also served as Inclusion Facilitator and Coordinator of Autism programs for grades K-1 and 9-12. After leaving the public school system, she worked as a developmental teacher and behavior specialist for an Early Intervention Program. She currently is an Implementation Specialist for DynaVox Mayer-Johnson where she educates and trains professionals on the use of the Boardmaker Software Family for instruction.
