ASHA CEUs: FREE .1 ASHA CEU!
This session demonstrated how to use Boardmaker Studio to quickly create the visually supported activities that enable many early learners to understand the language concepts they need to become successful, independent learners in their school, community, and home environments.
Participants will be able to:
a. Describe a variety of visual support activities shown to be effective with early learners in evidence based research
b. Demonstrate the use Templates and Gadgets in Boardmaker Studio that enable practitioners to quickly create
c. Employ the use of specific resources to enhance their knowledge and access to visual support language activities for early learners.
Enid Hurtado received her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies and her teaching credential in Special Education: Moderate to Severe from San Diego State University. She worked as a Special Education Teacher for 6 years in California and Colorado with children of varying disabilities, Pre-12. In addition to serving as a special educator, she also served as Inclusion Facilitator and Coordinator of Autism programs for grades K-1 and 9-12. After leaving the public school system, she worked as a developmental teacher and behavior specialist for an Early Intervention Program. She currently is an Implementation Specialist for DynaVox Mayer-Johnson where she educates and trains professionals on the use of the Boardmaker Software Family for instruction.
